Web accessibility has been the hot topic this past semester as schools nationwide race to meet the Department of Justice’s updated Title II mandate. At Eastern, we are also making accessibility a priority–not just for compliance, but for our students.
This past Spring, the CTLT launched a series of Lunch and Learn sessions and our Brightspace accessibility checklist. We’ve also been busy helping you remediate existing courses. Any existing submissions for course accessibility help should be finalized by the end of Summer 1!
In Brightspace

You may have also noticed a little accessibility icon show up in your course’s Table of Contents. Or maybe the gauge icon that now pops up in your Brightspace text editor. These relate to our newest accessibility tool: Yuja Panorama.

What is Panorama?
Panorama is an AI-powered accessibility engine integrated directly into Brightspace. Think of it as a wellness check for your digital content. It automatically scans your PowerPoints, PDFs, and Word docs to make sure they are readable for everyone, including students using screen readers or other assistive technologies.
How do I use it?
What if I want to Learn More?
Join us at the Faculty Development Workshop on Wednesday for a hands-on session. We’ll show you how to navigate your Panorama dashboard and give you dedicated time to edit your courses with our team standing by to help.
Check out our accessibility resources on the CTLT website.
